As an independent musician it is important for me to make sure that my music gets out there to as many people as you can. However as with most artists out there, it is very hard to get people in power at radio stations to listen. They have agendas and people in power are governed by more people in power who say what the public listener gets to listen to. That normally means that the little guy away from a mainstream powerhouse, is unable to get heard. Obviously the advent of the internet has made this easier, but with so many more artists trying to get heard this becomes even more difficult unless you have a megaphone louder than everyone else.
This is where Internet radio comes in so well and none do it better in my opinion than the wonder that is AiiRadio.net. With live DJs and genres that will please most people, there is piratically something for everyone and a great chance that the little man is heard, and believe me, the talent out there is something worth hearing. It is a wonderful thing but also a sad thing when you hear these wonderful bands and artists who don't get major airplay. However if it wasn't for AiiRadio and stations like this, it would be a safe bet that my music would be known to little more than instant family ( who sometimes give the impression of "that's nice dear") and close friends who don't always want to hear what I have to play. Having had airplay on AiiRadio.net my fan base has grown, I am getting e-mails from people all over the world. I can't recommend them enough. At last I don't have to bow to the whims of people who have no intention of playing me.
If you are an indie artist and can't get heard, give these a try. They really do play all genres. Pop, Folk, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Progressive, Alternative, Country, Bluegrass, Classical, World music and Hip Hop. As you can see, genres for everyone. It is a rare person who doesn't like what we play. They even have a chatroom!!!
